Nick in Time first came in touch with music at a quite late stage. The first piece that revealed to him the power of sound was “Rock To The Beat” of “101 Electric Dream” in 88. Sound is much more important for him than melody. Whatever kind of music is defined by its specific sound. Rhythm is nothing but a materialization of energy: Just like a heartbeat it guides and gives life. Deeply marked by the New Beat of the late 80s and later by the Techno boom the elementary electronic effect of “kick-bass-kick-bass” revealed to him the basic patterns underlying that period’s club music. The game of hats, snares and claps wasn’t but the logical consequence of this mixture of energies. Then Trance emerged and all it’s various forms promoted by international groups such as BBE or Kai Tracid. This was followed by Goa or Trance Psychedelic (Man With No Name). These, very “sliding” musical trends have had a considerable impact on some of the original pieces written by Nick in Time. Likewise, he was influenced by the singer Bjork, especially as to taking the risk to use new and unheard sounds. Finally, Electro was back, living a worldwide renaissance expressed by voices like Miss Kittin with her famous titles such as “What does it feel like”, “Silver Screen Shower Scene” with Felix da Housecat, “Rippin Kittin” by Goldenboy or still the famous “Frank Sinatra” with The Hacker. Nick in Time’s universe remains recognizable, yet he doesn’t like to be categorized in a specific genre, even if he’s sometimes close to Progressive, Trance, or even House. His special remixes make him famous on the net or on the professional music scene. He got a lot of respect with some of them. Nick In Time’s productions generally range from Progressive, Tribal, sometimes Electro but always melodic sounds. Nick works alone or with Dj’s like Dj Rudy (Fuse – Mad Club), Nicolas Nucci (Progress – Paris), Dj Sebu (Barcode – Tao), Bartosz Brenes (Line-up – Dj booking agency). Nick In Time’s influences are : Minilogue, G-Pal, Kosmas Epsilon, Perry O’Neil, Jam And Spoon, Yotopia, Terry Numan, Space Safari, D-Nox And Beckers, and many more. But finally, Nick has his own touch.Nick in Time: “I’m talking about something witch gives you all, witch takes you all, it’s life, I’m talking about Music.” “Genres are vulgar simplifications designed to classify disks in stores. Music is emotion and I don’t classify my emotions but seize them from different musical contexts. These contexts are made of sounds.” “Inspiration comes without warning, at 4 or at 7 A.M., in the clubs of the capital or of Flanders. So it happens that I come home and create a new sound that I listen to for hours” “It’s strange, I’ve got the feeling that New Beat will come back (laughs)”
